Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026.
Who we are
Honoria (“we”, “us”) is a website operated by Symantix Ltd (Company No. 05672247), registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website. Registered office: 2 Fuller Gardens, Swindon, SN3 4RP. You can contact us about privacy at contact@symantix.co.uk.
Information about honours recipients
Honoria is an independent reference that publishes information about recipients of UK honours, compiled from public records — principally The London Gazette, Cabinet Office announcements and Wikipedia/Wikidata. Where this includes personal data, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest (and the public interest) in maintaining an accurate, searchable record of published honours. If you are featured and wish to query or correct an entry, contact us at the address above.
Information we collect from you
- Technical & usage data — such as IP address, device/browser type and pages visited, collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies when you use the site.
- Purchase data — if you buy a commemorative download, payment is taken by our processor Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details; we receive confirmation of payment and limited order metadata.
- Photos you add — the keepsake customiser processes any photo you choose entirely in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded to our servers; it is combined into the downloaded file on your own device.
- Correspondence — any details you include if you email us.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use essential cookies needed to run the site. With your consent, we also use analytics and advertising cookies. We ask for your consent via our cookie banner before any non-essential cookies are set; until you accept, these do not load, and you can decline or withdraw consent at any time.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site (for example, pages viewed and general location), so we can improve it. When you consent, Google sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<id>) and processes usage data on our behalf. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address. You can learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and opt out across sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising. This site may show advertising served by Google (AdSense); Google and its partners may set cookies and use data to provide and personalise ads. You can learn more and manage choices at Google’s advertising policies.
Lawful bases
- Legitimate interests — operating, securing and improving the site, and publishing the public-record honours information.
- Contract — processing a purchase you ask us to fulfil.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, where applicable.
Who we share data with
We use trusted third-party processors to run the service, including Stripe (payments), our hosting/infrastructure provider, and Google (advertising/analytics). These providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy regulations or Standard Contractual Clauses) apply. We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law (for example, transaction records for accounting and tax).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any right, email contact@symantix.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above shows the latest version.
