When the 2026 Birthday Honours were published, the recognition reached every corner of the United Kingdom, including the Isle of Uist in the Western Isles. There, Isabella "Bella" Cameron was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to hospitality and to the rural economy in South Uist.

As head of kitchen at Grogarry Lodge, Bella has long been at the heart of one of South Uist's best-known sporting estates. Her cooking, and her welcome, have helped sustain the rural economy of the islands, drawing visitors and supporting local livelihoods through the seasons.
