· Honoria
Dorothy Ind was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2026 Birthday Honours, recognised as "founder, Chelsea Ballet Schools, for services to dance education."
She founded Chelsea Ballet Schools around forty years ago, in the heart of Kensington and Chelsea, where she remains principal. The school teaches dance to children of all ages, in its own venues and within independent schools, and many of its pupils have gone on to professional training and careers as dancers. Ind trained at the Arts Educational Schools, later returning there as Head of Dance and chairman of its board of governors.
Her MBE sits among the 2026 Birthday Honours List. More about the school is on the Chelsea Ballet website.
