A microscopist and a Lioness: King's in the 2026 Birthday Honours
Two King's College London community members were recognised in the 2026 Birthday Honours: William Luckhurst BEM, honoured for four decades of electron microscopy, and Michelle Agyemang MBE, the Euro 2025 Lioness and King's student, at 20 among the round's youngest recipients.

The 2026 Birthday Honours recognised two members of the King's College London community, four decades apart in their careers.
William Luckhurst, senior technical manager in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, received the British Empire Medal for services to scanning electron microscopy. A King's employee for more than forty years, he won the university's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and was the Institute of Physics Technician of the Year in 2023.
Michelle Agyemang, a business management student and Arsenal forward, was made an MBE for services to association football (Wikipedia). At 20 she was among the youngest recipients in the list, recognised after a breakout Euro 2025 with the Lionesses while training through King's Sport performance-athlete programme.
